About This Trip

This is a moderate tour of Japan's highlights. South Korean cuisine is heavily focused on meat and dairy, and vegetarian menus are limited, especially outside major cities. Due to driving regulations, there may be extra walking to and from the set drop off and pick up points. Japan is an expensive destination with a unique culture that blends eastern tradition and western ideals, which may be perplexing for travelers from other countries. The Japanese are very formal and polite, and communication is often done through silence and body language. It's important to have a little understanding of Japanese culture to fully enjoy the experience.

Day 1: North America to Osaka

Enjoy an overnight flight to Osaka, Japan.
Day 2: Arrive in Osaka

Upon arrival, transfer to hotel for check in. Enjoy the rest of the day at your own pace.
Day 3: Osaka - Nara - Osaka

This morning, you will move to Nara, now known as Nara remains full of iconic sites. Then see Todai-ji Temple, one of Japan’s most famous and historically significant temples, constructed in the 8th century. In its huge area houses various national treasures of Japan. Step foot in the Daibutsuden (Great Buddha Hall), housing the world’s largest bronze statue of the Buddha Vairocana. Wander through Nara Park, where over 1,200 wild sika deer roam free, before travelling back to Osaka. Visit the Osaka Castle, which played a major role in the unification of Japan during the Azuchi-Momoyama period in the sixteenth century, before being dropped off at Dotonbori, which exemplifies Osaka’s vibrant food culture.

Kansai Culture Tour
Consist of visit the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, a mesmerizing grove of thousands of tall bamboo plants. A paved walkway runs through the middle of both sections, forming the famous “Bamboo Alley,” one of Kyoto’s most photographed sights. Japanese traditional lunch will be included at a local Japanese restaurant. After that, we will visit one of the most sacred and impressive destinations – Fushimi Inari-Taisha Shrine and walk through the famous vermilion Torii Gates, the most picturesque location on tour, and explore great photo opportunities along the ancient street.
In the afternoon, you will get a chance to experience a unique Tea ceremony with wakasi tasting, where skilled tea masters guide you through the art of tea preparation. This cultural experience offers a tranquil escape to savor Japan's cherished tea rituals. Then return to your comfortable vehicle for the relaxing journey back to your hotel. The rest of the day is free at leisure on your own.

Day 5: Osaka-Kyoto-Nagoya-Hamamatsu

This morning, travel to Kyoto, it was Japan’s capital and the emperor’s residence from 794 until 1868. Countless temples, shrines, and other historically priceless structures survive in the city today. Firstly, Visit Kinkakuji (Golden Pavilion), World Cultural Heritage featuring a shining golden pavilion and a pond-centered garden. Visit the shining Kinkaku with two floors covered entirely in thin layers of pure gold and detailed architecture incorporating three distinct styles of Shinden, Samurai, and Zen. Then visit the Higashi Hongan-ji, which is a religious complex of the Pure Land (Jodo Shinshu) Buddhism. Its monumental architecture is renowned for being sheltered by the largest wooden roof in the world. Then, transfer to the Kyoto Station, Here we can also take a great picture of Kyoto tower.

In the afternoon, experiences a true modern marvel by riding the Shinkansen (bullet train) from Kyoto to Nagoya Station. Upon arrival in Nagoya, visit Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology. Here you will learn about the history of Toyota which started out as a textile machinery manufacturer and how it became a successful mass exporter and manufacturer of automotive technology, including robots. Continue our trip to Hamamatsu and stay overnight.

Day 6: Hamamatsu - Gotemba - Mt. Fuji (Cruise on Lake Kawaguchi)

Today, visit Gotemba Peace Park to capture a breathtaking view of Mount Fuji,Oshino Hakkai. Known as the springs of Mount Fuji, the eight ponds are fed by melting snow filtering down from the slopes of nearby Mount Fuji, through porous layers of lava, resulting in very clear spring water that is revered by locals. Afterwards, and Sengenjinja Shrine. Enjoy the picturesque view of Mount Fuji from a distance onboard the cruise on Lake Kawaguchi, a crater lake famous for its views of the famous peak. Finish the day with a true cultural experience and buffet dinner in our hot spring hotel.

Day 7: Mt. Fuji - Tokyo

Visit Meiji Shrine in the morning, dedicated to the deifed spirits of Emperor Meiji and his consort, Empress Shoken. Your next stop today is Tokyo Metro to enjoy a panoramic view of enormous Tokyo city. Later, stroll through the Sensoji Temple(Asakusa Kannon Temple), one of Tokyo’s most colorful and popular temples. Then walk along the famous 820-ft long Nakamise shopping street where you can explore the lines of stalls selling different Japanese-styled goods and souvenirs. You may also choose the optional Kimono Rental (US$55/person) and explore great photo opportunities along the ancient street in Japan’s beautiful national dress.

Tonight, you may have the optional Teppanyaki (US$108/person), Savor the excitement of Japanese Teppanyaki, where skilled chefs prepare and cook your meal right at the table with flair and precision. Begin your day at the Imperial Palace, where you'll see the beautiful gardens and historical significance of the residence of Japan's Emperor. Satisfy your culinary cravings at the world-famous Tsukiji Fish Market, you may take the opportunity to try a variety of fresh seafood or explore the local food on own expenses. Immerse yourself in the energetic chaos of Shibuya Crossing and pay your respects to the loyal Hachiko Statue. Finally, enjoy some leisure time in the bustling Shinjuku district, known for its entertainment, shopping, and dining options. Transfer back to the hotel after that. Day 10: Seoul - Daegu

After breakfast, depart to Daegu to visit Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and explore its impressive walls, historic gates, and scenic walking trails that showcase Korea’s rich history and architectural brilliance. Then, visit Daegu Donghwasa Temple, located on the southern slopes of Mt. Palgongsan (1193m) in Daegu. The name of the temple means “Paulownia Blossom Temple” in English. Overnight in Daegu.

Day 11: Daegu - Gyeongju – Busan

This morning, transfer to Gyeongju, explore the many archaeological sites and temples, royal tombs, and monuments of Gyeongju, the capital of the ancient Silla Kingdom (57 BC – 935 AD). Visit Royal Tumuli Park, Gyeongju National Museum and Donggung Palace & Wolji Pond. This afternoon, transfer to Busan. Upon arrival, check in hotel. Tonight we will have the Korea BBQ for dinner.

Day 12: Busan

After breakfast, visit Haedong Yonggungsa (East Sea Dragon Palace Temple), situated on the coast of the north-eastern portion of the city and overlooking the ocean. Then visit Nurimaru APEC House, a memorial hall and prestigious international conference hall located near Haeundae Beach, offering visitors spectacular views of the nearby natural landscape. Afterwards, you will have an opportunity to view the waves while looking down through the transparent floor of the 15-metre high Oryukdo Skywalk, which is set over a 35 meter-high coastal cliff. Travel to Gamcheon Culture Village situated on the foothills of a coastal mountain and nicknamed ‘Machu Picchu of Busan’. You will be thrilled by the many alleys cutting through this village, vibrantly decorated with murals and sculptures created by the local resident. In the evening, we stop at one of Korea’s largest markets, Nampo Dong Gukje Market for a wide variety of goods at affordable prices. Overnight in Busan.

Day 13: Busan – Andong - Seoul

After breakfast, depart to Andong. Visit the traditional village, which features traditional houses of the Joseon Dynasty period (1392-1897). Then transfer to Seoul, the rest of the day at leisure. overnight in Seoul.

Day 14: Seoul

This morning, visit Gyeongbokgung Palace, was built as the official palace of the Joseon dynasty by Yi Seong-gye, who becomes King Taejo and the founder of the new regime. Gyeongbokgung Palace is arguably the most beautiful and is the largest of all five palaces. You may try on a hanbok, the traditional attire of the Korean people and having great photo opportunity. Late, visit the Ginseng Centre and Cosmetic Shop for souvenirs shopping. Today we will have the special Samgyetang (Chicken soup with ginseng) for lunch. Continue to Cheonggyecheon Stream and admire this urban oasis before visiting Myeongdong, one of Seoul’s main commercial districts.

Day 15: Seoul

Cheorwon DMZ tour
After pickup at your Seoul hotel in the morning, drive to the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) in Cheorwon. Firstly, you will visit The Second Tunnel, it was being discovered in March 1975, lies about 800 meters (0.5 mile) south of the Military Demarcation Line, as per the Korean Armistice Agreement. This incomplete tunnel extends for 3.5 km, with a maximum height of 2 m and a width of 2.1 m. It runs through bedrock at a depth ranging from 50 m to 160 m below ground. The tunnel was seemingly designed for a surprise attack on Seoul from North Korea, with the capacity to accommodate up to 30,000 soldiers per hour, along with their light weaponry. North Korea initially denied involvement, claiming it was part of a coal mine and citing construction explosions for the tunnel's blackened interior.

The tunnel visit takes appx. 1 hour. Then, you will have appx. 40 mins to visit the Peace Observatory to looks across the Demilitarized Zone. It is the part of South Korea closest to the North. Visitors can catch a rare glimpse of the reclusive North Korean state through binoculars. Finally, make a brief stop at Woljeongri Station. It was a small train yard where rail stock was stored or shunted before leaving for Wonsan, now in North Korea. At the site are remains of a train used by the North Korean army which was bombed by UN forces. “The windows of the train car are twisted toward the sky and the frame, and the body of the train are crooked and rusty.” Then transfer back to the hotel in the afternoon. A traditional lunch is included.

Notes: If there’s an unannounced official event or unforeseen situation in the DMZ, the program will be cancelled & replaced by Paju tour. Tripoppo will have the right to adjust the itinerary on spot accordingly.
